Ranch History

Our
Story

This forty acre piece of heaven on Earth is located adjacent to Fort Bragg Road just outside of Willits. Broaddus Creek with its banked oak, willow and pepper wood forests runs diagonally through "the place" with fields on either side. Dr. Bamie B Cox (he was a dentist for 47 years) and his wife Edna (she was a polio physical therapist) purchased 40 acres in 1954 and worked the rest of their lives to keep it. The first Great Pyrenees livestock guardians were purchased 43 years ago, and they have been a pleasure for the passerby, as well as a necessity.

It is also home to a sustainably-raised herd of Boer goats (essential in maintaining a foothold with the highly invasive Himalayan black berries), a Dorper-Dorset-Columbia herd of sheep, as well as a herd of Red Angus that graze about the surrounding counties.
